Pretty unhelpful Times story about ketamine this AM. It reads like an attempt to undermine serious and dedicated people working to reduce drug related harms in students through updating of Uni drugs policy/action in line with UK Drug Strategy priorities and best practice /1

UK prisons are extremely overcrowded and underfunded. A huge step would be to decriminalise drug use and instead treat it as a medical problem that requires treatment. Doing that would eliminate most of the non-violent people, so that the rest may be rehabilitated.

No amount of psych meds or therapy can dissolve food deserts, uplift poor wages, or transform the social dysfunction at the core of countless struggles.
For true healing, we must address systemic issues + cultivate meaning & community.

I get the argument & all... But does this mean that ingesting N20 is ensuring it doesn't create emissions?
By ingesting nitrous and preventing it entering the atmposphere, we're... saving the planet? Or am I just stupid? I got a D in Chemistry in school
Thinking of coerced treatment, compulsory detention, involuntary commitment, diversion schemes, user registries, forced urine testing & the myriad other ways the state uses 'public health' to control, exploit & harm drug users. #AbolitionNow!

I learnt so much and met some amazing people and orgs working in the UK.
Communities have been abandoned by the gov and decades of austerity. And kids are increasingly at risk of being criminalised through anti social acts.
So happy to have contributed to a chapter. Read it!

In the last year, HHC and other semi-synthetic cannabinoids, have emerged on the drug market and are being sold openly as replacements to cannabis and THC products.

Also, crime flourishes when substances are made illegal. Alcohol is very much a “drug” – it’s just a legacy drug from olden times when we had no… Show more

60% think they are losing
Yet, despite over 50years of obvious & abject failure, the Government's conclusion is

What didnt make the cut
- crucial expert ACMD advice was ignored by Gov
- more criminalisation won't decrease health or social harms
- we still don't have a national campaign on nitrous harms and where to seek help
