We in the Pony community are looking forward to taking advantages of a lot of the forward progress that MSR has made with Verona in languages like Rust and Pony. And we look forward to contributing back to the project. Expect to hear more from us in the coming months.https://twitter.com/ParkyMatthew/status/1217901942443270147 …

I find it very frustrating that many view up front design as bad. So often I see people fighting with complex implementation workarounds for what can be much better addressed with a more representative model.

Modern applications aren't "programs" in the traditional sense of algorithms burning up the CPU, they're just glue code moving around data and changing its format. 90% of performance comes from the flow of data. This is a design-time concern -- optimizing this is not premature!

Correlation kills availability in distributed systems, because it removes all the benefit of having multiple copies. Applies to state just as much as code. Poison tasters help reduce the risk of common state causing correlated failure.

In software, slow is fast. Without proper quality process, you'll spend more time putting out fires than building new value.
