Burnout happens when "too much work" crosses the line and you stop doing other things that make your life worth it. 1/2

There is no right amount of time for the other side, it depends. Someone can burnout working 4 hours/day where another can thrive at 12 hours/day. For those same people the ratio can and will change through their lifespans.

I would nuance this by suggesting that it is definitely possible for burnout to come from hard work -- it's just a fallacy that hard work *inevitably* leads to burnout. There are lots of variables in the mix

“What burns you out is the constant strain of being responsible for a lot of other people's stuff.”

That’s imho symptom of control/impact You can easily be in charge on dozens of people. Take over all their work. And they can still burn out. Is then the burnout bc they were responsible for your management failure? Would be weird framing.

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately for my new thing. There are generally six major imbalances between employees & their work that lead to burnout: - Lack of control - Values conflict - Insufficient reward. - Work overload - Unfairness - Breakdown of community
