@oe1cxw Can you recommend an FPGA dev board that can run a RISC-V CPU with end-to-end Open Source synthesis?

Doesn’t that one only need 300 or so LUTs? A fully featured RV32IMAC is maybe 2000 or so LUTs I think.
-
s/300/750/. And that is on Xilinx 7 series. On Lattice iCE40 it is closer to 1500 minimum size.
-
Hmm I’m sure something uses 300.
@jangray’s cores? -
I think the last number for GRVI that I have seen was 350 LUTs. So that would at least be in the right neighborhood.
-
That’s clearly a very minimal processor. Just RV32I. No atomics, no multiply, no compressed.
-
GRVI does MUL* and LR/SC. No compressed.
-
GRVI is RV32I etc *subset*. Runs instructions generated by GCC. Key simplifications for role as processor element are: no CSRs, exceptions. Don’t want to pay for 1000+ copies of that.
-
So it’s apples to oranges. May do full RV32I should need arise — but not focus now. If you need full RV32I MCU today, as Clifford said, PicoRV fits in that ice40. :-)
