I haven't heard that one yet. But I did hear about women spies using knitting to encode their information. Hope that one isn't a myth, because it is just too good!

I remember that from a documentary about ww2, but I can’t recall if it actually happened or if they just thought it might happen.

textile secret messages were needlework (embroidery) as far as all the examples i could find. ww2 and across east german border. saw physical examples at stasi museum in berlin years ago.
