I'm a hacker, pretty much in the old school sense of the word. But I do know IT security too.

Dear #Blackhoodie17 attendants. We still have an opening for incident response in Berlin (30% reversing malware, 70% actual work). Contact me for details.

I read it as "30% RE, 70% doing customer-facing IR (log analysis, forensics, supporting on-site efforts, writing reports)"

I guess assumptions can be made on the wording in any direction for this post. I read it differently myself too. So i guess it has more to do with the readers psychology as well. Its interesting to say the least.

But thats the benefit of infosec. We get to sit down in our Silicon based towers and discuss things like this. I know myself i have always had confidence issues with everything in life so i misread this in a negative connotation.

It's important to realize that the fun part of work is still work, involves effort, and deserves to be paid!

"fun" is subjective - for someone reversing is fun and i.e. meeting people is a hard work, but for another person it may be otherwise. and "work" is anything that is useful for your employer IMO - is it "fun" or "not fun" is just your personal opinion.

That's correct. And I do believe one's job should balance that! (Personally, I prefer RE over writing reports. Your mileage may vary. That's ok!)
