So there is this rumour that Apple started to build a team of people that are tasked to infiltrate researchers to get info about bugs etc...
Well, NDS did that with the Pay TV hacker scene 20 years ago. So why not...

Well Apple did this with the iPhone dev team. But now it is said it is a whole team of people.Lately i keep hearing this from multiple sides
-
I mean, good for Apple i guess? They are taking product security appropriately seriously if so.
-
Yeah the Stasi took state security also very seriously.
-
Whether that's a reasonable comparison depends on Apple's methods. If all they are doing is putting out feelers to learn of bugs, meh.
-
So many journalists and heads of state trust Apple security. You mentioned Stasi: people in some countries literally die from poor prod sec.
-
Accordingly, I am inclined to give Apple the benefit of the doubt unless their actions prove that unwarranted.
-
I hope of course that they would try to encourage open source research- like Microsoft has done a better job of- so it doesn't just go dark.
-
But merely having a threat intel team- which is basically what you described- doesn't sound that sinister nor counterproductive to me.
