I'm a hacker, pretty much in the old school sense of the word. But I do know IT security too.

Nearly every hacker that does consulting has been asked to get a clearance at some point or another. Don't be surprised if you're pwned.

I resisted clearance. I still got pwned. Everybody gets pwned.

It made me think. I'm now a security architect. At least two levels away from fighting APTs.

I think the vast majority of people hired in aren't writing exploits, but it's certainly a place that you can end up later.

On one hand, it sounds like you get to work with some great minds. On the other hand, you might not like what you're doing.

The work itself was exciting. You get malware, and virustotal says 0/42 detection ratem

You... you're allowed to upload that shit to virustotal?

I wasn't exactly asking for permission. And I had to get a job done.

Yes, they knew I was on their trail, so it actually didn't make a difference. And I had no strategic guidance whatsoever.

I'm sorry. You're a skilled hacker and deserve to do something you *want* for a living.

Thanks. I'm currently looking into formally verified TLS implementations and how to put them into production. Doing ok here.
