Nearly every hacker that does consulting has been asked to get a clearance at some point or another. Don't be surprised if you're pwned.
It made me think. I'm now a security architect. At least two levels away from fighting APTs.

I think the vast majority of people hired in aren't writing exploits, but it's certainly a place that you can end up later.
