But in order to allow for parallel builds, it requires pywin32 on Windows. Which refuses to install, it can't find Python.

Compiling it from source is almost easy, except you need to find a copy of mc.exe somewhere and fix permissions in the source zip.

And now if fails because NMAKE complains about an invalid option '-'. You're all pulling my leg, are you?

Where possible in native code land, I just use cmake with ninja on all platforms. Good luck.

For a client project, I hacked up a copy of a scons to ninja script to run clang-tidy and the like. What a mess.

And I love the minimum 10 seconds of waiting in second vs well under a second with ninja.
