An entire legion of Angela Nagles. All hoping to ride the coattails of fascists, to inherit the left after the rest are exterminated. Flashback to the german communists who argued that Hitler was half socialist and should be supported as he would pave the way for full socialism.https://twitter.com/stavvers/status/1056874300131688448 …

I've often said that transmisogynistic bigots are on the wrong side of history, but a chilling thing just occurred to me: with the global rise of fascism, perhaps they think they're getting in on the *right* side of history, aligning with the fash.

I'm not sure where the delusional idea comes from that communists ever supported Hitler.

Uh, seriously read Against The Fascist Creep, there's a fuck ton on delusional strategies by german leftists. Not just those who fell in with the strasserites but those who figured that Hitler was a good development that would pave the way and help suppress the demsocs.

You must be referring to this section in the book, because it is the only one I could find dealing with the penomenon. A couple of observations here. There are no sources cited for any of the claims in this section.pic.twitter.com/ipenkhp7xK

In particular, I tried googling for "First Hitler, then us". In English, one would find a couple of mentions in this phrase, all of them without any backing by primary sources. In German, you find... nothing.

The BVG strike of 1932 and the vote of no confidence of 1931 did indeed happen. There's a very thorough analysis here: https://www.grin.com/document/231440  Some key phrases, translated, follow.

"Implaceable and full of hate, the right and the left faced each other in an uncompromising struggle for a victor." The visible surface of this was open street fights that started escalating in 1929.

'The KPD did not shy away from "occasionally working hand in hand with the National Socialists [...], even though Red Front fighters and National Socialists usually blew their heads bloody."' It is pretty clear here that cooperation is the exception, not the norm.

For the claim from Ross: "After a dose of Hitler, the KPD believed, the German people would come to their senses." there is again not a shred of evidence.

Compare that to the well documented cooperation of von Schleicher, von Papen, Schmitt and Brüning with the Nazis. I know it is en vogue to somehow blame the left for the Nazis, but truth is that center-right parties were crucial in empowering Hitler.

If you think I'm blaming the left for the nazis you're wildly misreading the original post. I have no idea why you're emphasizing that this cooperation was an exception. Of course it was. Nevertheless these people/moments existed and are relevant in the original comparison.

Nagle's attempt to push / suck up to alt-right bullshit is very much in line with the german communists who took the "first Hitler then us" line. Obviously there were communists who never took that line. That should go without saying. I'm a fucking anarchist. Many ancoms resisted

As to the rest, Ross covers a lot of fascist crossover and delusional leftist strategies beyond the KPD's. You can hit him directly about any sourcing issues, but I've heard the same re KPD from anti-ironfront marxists. He has made fixes to some errors I found and called him on.

I'm flabbergasted that you'd bring up von Schleicher, von Papen, etc -- do you really honestly think I would ever suggest that the centrists & conservatives weren't crazy complicit in Hitler's rise? Complicity isn't exclusive. An critique of leftists isn't a defense of the right!
