(Okay admittedly this is not as short as I thought it would be. Sorry.)

One thing you could count on with AC is that at any given point in time, she’d have some variety of candies in her pockets (often weird old-timey ones like Good ‘N Plentys), and beads.

AC died of cancer a few years back. She had beaten it, then it came back. We didn’t think it would kill her, because she was invincible. We all shaved our heads b/c she was losing her hair and her sister (my mom) made her feel like shit, and AC never deserved feeling like shit.pic.twitter.com/0Vw2dzLU4h

I remember her glee shaving off my mohawk. She pretended to be apprehensive, but after the first three seconds, she was a machine with my clippers. I don’t have a photo on me, but the grin was from ear to ear.

Anyway... seeing those beads in my sisters pocket, mixed with my sisters own welding gewgaws, really caught me off guard. This person, this amazing soul, is still so close in our hearts (and in Shanen’s pockets, apparently). Years later, we still find pieces of her.pic.twitter.com/XF33tkB0uB

We did our best to make her bring her joy. When she was in the hospital, we’d bring her silly things to make her smile.pic.twitter.com/LfKELOuKaF

But the joy we brought her was never even close to the joy she felt when she was making things for other people.pic.twitter.com/7rypKhCCSx

I honestly don’t know where I’m going with this now. I’m certain I had a point to start off with. Several, really. But seeing those two things together - echoes of my aunt, mixed with the “beads” of my welder-elder-sister really hit me.

I guess, just, be more like Cheryl. She lived to bring smiles to other people. Leave your beads in the pockets of as many people as you can.pic.twitter.com/U2J7PC8xh7

I'm totally not crying. That's just some dust I got in my eyes or something.

I had an uncle like that. I'm too young to remember much, but I still remember that my grandma took good care of him until he passed away. She's 95 now, and we're not sure she'll make 96. Damn allergies. They'll get you.
