      Ach Heise. Dass Tron drei Tage nach der Veröffentlichung des Premiere-Hacks verschwunden ist, dass Murdoch den Hack querfinanziert hat, dass Kirch unter anderem daran pleite gegangen ist, das hättet ihr schon schreiben können.

      Es ist mir glaube ich zu spät am Tage, um die ganze Geschichte aufzudröseln, aber wenigstens ein paar Pointer will ich liefern. NDS war eine Firma, die damals für Murdochs Sender Sky die Verschlüsselung gebaut hat.

      NDS wurde mal von Adi Shamir gegründet, dem "S" aus RSA. Dort gab es eine Abteilung, die sich mit Pay-TV-Piraten beschäftigte. Einer davon war Ray Adams. Adams war recht wichtig bei der London Metropolitan Police. Er war in diverse Skandale verwickelt, verliess den Laden.

      Bei NDS pflegte er Kontakte zur Pay-TV-Piraten-Szene, insbesondere der Mailingliste tv-crypt und der Webseite THOIC. Tron hatte irgendwo einen Zettel mit Adams' Telefonnummer, die beiden hatten auch Mailkontakt. Pikante Details gibt's hier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Adams

      NDS hat über Adams die Hacks der Konkurrenz finanziert. Dokumentiert sind u.a. Zahlungen an THOIC, aber insbesondere auch an einen gewissen Oliver Kömmerling. Letzteres kam heraus, weil es Hacks gegen Canal+ in Frankreich gab, und Kömmerling als Kronzeuge ausgesagt hat.

      Kömmerling ist spezialisiert auf reverse engineering von Chips. Auf seinem (von NDS finanziertem) Equipment wurde der Premiere-Chip decapped und fotografiert, Tron hat händisch das ROM ausgelesen und zusammengesetzt. Eine weitere Person hat reverse engineered.

          Tron wiederum hat die Software zum Hacken geschrieben (wen's interessiert: das Kommando zum Aktivieren der Karte nach Bezahlen des Abos hat eine Signatur. Die wurde byteweise geprüft. Simple Timingattacke.) Donnerstag geht die Software bei THOIC online. Samstag verschwindet Tron.

          Einen ähnlich gelagerten Fall gab es in den USA: dort war es Christopher Tarnovsky, der von NDS Geld bekommen hat, um die Verschlüsselung von Echostar zu hacken.
