Here's the thinking: "evidence based" actually means double-blind clinical trial. So even though we know flossing reduces plaque, and we know plaque causes dental problems, the deduction "flossing is useful" is not "evidence based".

Have you read that article. It makes a pretty forceful case that flossing appears to carry no benefit, despite the dental giants J&J and P&G funding numerous studies. The only studies that found a (weak) benefit were poorly designed studies or too small...?
