The people with whom we surround ourselves shape us. We are all mirrors reflecting onto one another.
Research shows:
-Emotion spreads
-Motivation spreads
-Thinking spreads
-Compassion spreads
-Action spreads
Surround yourself wisely. Shine light when you are up to it.

Not a day goes by when I don't wonder if I'm good at my disciplines.
The same experience happens to my mentors.
So relax.
Nobody knows what they're doing.

P.S. Because in classic fashion I feel bad for not acknowledging how much help I had from my partner. And how actually supportive my workplaces are. All of that can be true at the same time, though, right?
Anyway, hope YOU honoured yourself yesterday somehow. #IWD2023

So yes. I had a great #InternationalWomensDay, thank you. I honoured myself by surviving the myriad of BS that being a woman seems to entitle me to. Sorry if I don’t feel like celebrating my strength with a cupcake.

(Shoutout to whomever put #IWD in #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth, well played). Obviously I wasn’t taken serious for any of my experience. In my spare time, I dealt with some intergenerational trauma & was guilt-tripped for my boundaries. […]

I coordinated the delivery of a fundraising campaign for my kids’ sports team. My kids tucked themselves in because of all the above. I went to physio to deal with the debilitating aftermath/side effects of a surgery only women can have & a disease only women can have […]

I worked 3 jobs over 13 hours, regularly checking my bank account & wondering when I’d get paid (because precarious contract work is fun). Oh, and both kids were home sick from school, so my attention was divided. […]

Someone asked me today how I honoured myself on #InternationalWomensDay yesterday. It was well-intended, so I bit my tongue. My honest answer? 🧵

. I really hope this wknd’s canceled tournament for U12 boys can be rescheduled. Out of ur control, but that’s 1/3 of season league play lost not just one game. That’s A LOT. I know a lot goes into scheduling. Just one bummed out little baller in my house today. 😫 🏀
Being an adult nearing my 40s is cool because there's no one stopping me from having cupcakes for dinner but then if I sleep with my neck 0.2mm out of alignment I'm incapacitated for days.

Are you living with long COVID?
There are at least 1.4 million people in Canada living with the condition, many unable to work and live their lives the way they want.
I'm collecting stories for and would be grateful if you shared yours⬇️

Canada isn't "broken". A few things are great. A few things are terrible. A lot of things are okay with room for improvement. And we deserve a grown-up conversation about how to improve the things that need it instead of cheap sloganeering and promises of quick fixes.

The 7 year old girl who kept her hand on her little brother's head to protect him while they were under the rubble for 17 hours has made it safely. I see no one sharing. If she were dead, everyone would share! Share positivity...

T-8 hours ish until my hysterectomy aka #yeeterus. Officially in the “no food or drink” zone. I just finished my work projects and set my OOO. Now the house is quiet. Just me and my many thoughts and feels…
See you on the other side.

If you live in Toronto, you may have been feeling a little blue this past month. Feel free to blame it on the 27 days without any significant sun.

Happy Mi'kmaw New Year!
Tonight, Mi'kmaw people historically fed Apuknajit (The Winter Spirit). It is the start of the Apuknajit New Year and typically the prayers would be to thank Apuknajit for keeping you alive, warm, fed, and healthy up to this time (mid-winter). 1/3

Some kid two-handed shoved my 6yo off a snow hill at the bus stop this AM. Unprovoked. Didn’t say anything. And just smiled when the other parent (not his) & I got mad about it. Wtaf?
Holy shit these freedom convoy people are annoying, go home do something actually productive.

Trying to find a good abdominal compression band for post #hysterectomy and all I can find are “tummy trainers”. It’s pissing me off. Even everything for postpartum recovery is marketed as helping “get your body back”. How about supporting a core that’s been torn to shreds? No?

Hit me with some movies and/or shows to binge (I have all of the streaming services). If I need to “rest and recover” after surgery, I’ll need solid entertainment. Help!

Today we will have 8:55 of light.
We gained 0:07 of light.
