Great stuff, Andrea! I smoked for 55 years, quit, started running for the first time (I had played basketball and racquetball but had never jogged.) In the next couple years, I ran 22 5-Ks (slowly, in intervals). I finally learned to stop apologizing for being slow.

excellent piece. I started running seriously after chemo the first time in 92. i was in my 30's and used to get out on the mean streets of santa monica every morning at 6:30 run along the beach and out to the end of the pier and back. it was my way of dealing w/ it all.
