I was heartbroken to hear that artist, musician, and writer Tom Moody passed away this weekend from Covid complications. He was the first show at And/Or Gallery in 2006, and we exhibited and sold editions of his blog posts and GIFs, 8 years before the first NFT was created...

Tom's blog that was influential in the ongoing dialogue about digital and internet art started just two years after Google, and ran for over 20 years...

He was an influential member of the online digital art collectives Nasty Nets, Computers Club, and dump.fm. His sharp commentary and totally unique artistic output will be missed. <3

Oh no! That is extremely sad. Tom was one of the first people on the web I talked to about digital and media arts. Remembered very fondly.

Oh I am very sad to hear this. I remember seeing about that show online. Tom was also the first show for the Distributed Gallery (2008, after Telic lost its gallery). i loved seeing his animated GIFs on TVs installed around Chinatown.

This is incredibly sad. Tom was the first person to call the animated gifs I was making for dump.fm “art.” He is probably more responsible for my pursuing online animation than almost anyone else. I will miss him deeply.
