On macOS it just does nothing until it’s done, which can be a long time. I just have to look at the destination to see if it’s still going.

You can view the progress on MacOS, it's one of the modifier keys + T. Can't remember which modifier key.
wow! it's ctrl+t, and i never knew that. super cryptic! no instructions i've ever seen even mention this...
