But it is relevant because a Europe has is apathy towards defending themselves relying on US/UK/FR, if Russia keeps picking at the edges how long will it be before the EU core weakens and we are not in the fortunate position of 1980s NATO deployed forces.

No but potentially it could be more motivated and better equipped and given the propaganda at the edges of EU (Baltics esp) they would face little initial resistance

The only thing that bothers me : these military strikes might have been carried out only to let us - the Westerners - gain a future excuse for not applying adequate countermeasures.
