Sad lesson from Maidan is that violence from government against protesters might be good. Maidan only grew after violence against it. #Trump

how can you write this? Awful. Rise of democracy never need violence. But is strong enough to sustain and react to violence

Who are you kidding? Violence against peaceful demonstrators has given energy to powerful movements all over the world.

thanks god the victory of democracy in Central & Eastern Eu in 1989-1991 showed democracy does not necessary need violence

Well, those processes were mostly peaceful but people died in Vilnius, Prague, Moscow and (lots) in Romania.

That's one thing I believe the Bolsheviks were right about. Any change in power usually requires some violence. Sadly

But my reference was about violence against the protesters, not the other way around.

I think these are different situations. A revolution comes when economy is bad and opposition opressed. Not the case here.

Maidan didn't start because of the economy. It started as an issue of west and east. Opposition might be oppressed in the US very soon.

Lesson from Syria tells a different story, Assad called the threat of violence and escalated himself. Can go both ways.

west east not an issue. UA always ruled by dnipro and donetsk clans. Until dnipro opposition was opressed by Yanuk.
