The English don't reject collaboration with equals which may be why the English/British identity can be difficult for us.

Now I don't understand your point. You mean the EU is then not in any way an equal to Britain?
-
Our sincere attempts to collaborate with Wales and Scotland may explain the one thing the article correctly identifies —
-
which is the confusion for the English about English/British identity.
-
I see. How is the English identity when put into a European perspective then?
-
Many EU nations were either invaded or under a dictator within living memory. The UK wasn't. We don't get the need to merge
-
True, even more so in Sweden. The UK made a huge sacrifice in WWII though, which is in living memory.
-
true. (I know Sweden quite well). But the Battle of Britain mentality is strong. We fought them off and want to be left alone

You can read all the articles written but you will never understand because you are not British.
-
Bye, bye then. Have a pleasant journey ruling the waves on your own.
-
True lots of Britons do not feel European. This means our tolerance towards EU failure lower than other members

Sorry but this is a load of bollocks. Hardly anybody alive in England today remembers Empire. Scotland and Wales are run by nationalists.
-
People in Europe thinking old stereotypes about England, colonialism and U.K. are in danger of simply projecting their own prejudices.
-
All nations have an issue with resurgent nationalism and intolerance. All.
-
The EU's intention was to break England/GB, in the belief we still harbour dreams of Empire.
-
Whether or not that is the case, I do know that if nations within Europe continue with petty in-fighting, bigger powers will take advantage.
-
'Bigger powers' did take advantage, Germany, it began again in 1947.
-
I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories. Everything is explainable through human nature - as frustrating as it is to watch.
-
If the EU makes us Safer, Stronger, Wealthier, Healthier and more Unified, why's it failing & falling apart?
