Some appears to misunderstand me. Surely common EU defence as a part of NATO would be better than today's situation?https://twitter.com/andersostlund/status/797363296034816000 …

But wouldn't the EU-led organisation end up in competition with NATO? It would weaken the existing common defence structure.
-
Why would it? The US dominance has not weakened NATO so far.
-
So why not leave NATO as it is? US has every incentive to remain in the organisation. Only time Article 5 invoked was 9/11.
-
Trump is the short answer. He has questioned both NATO and article 5.

That would require that for example Finns would trust French and Italians to think about us. Not gonna happen.
-
Combination could be possible. Finland devote brigade to the EU army for example, keeps rest under local control.
-
Why would we do that?
-
For the common good of course. To avoid another Karelia loss.
-
Giving away a brigade would help us how? Sorry to be selfish, but we know were not getting concrete help anyway

Germany, France and Poland should build up a strong common army
