Reading around, seems US arms to Ukraine would require US military advisors. Russian advisors already there. This is how proxy wars start

@andersostlund you're arguing US military advisors are already there!? -
@ASLuhn No, I think@andersostlund is arguing that what's been happening since March is a proxy war. It's RU aggression fought by proxies. -
@PaulNiland@ASLuhn That's absolutely correct Paul. I argue that the whole war from the outset was a proxy war, a one-sided such. -
@andersostlund in the best-known proxy wars, both sides have patrons. As US ramps up involvement, eastern Ukraine is becoming Russia vs US -
@ASLuhn Just like in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cambodia to name a few. -
@andersostlund@ASLuhn If/when Ukraine receives serious amount of support Ru invasion will bog down, so expect intensified Ru attack now -
@Thomas67M@ASLuhn Yes, I am afraid you are right. With proper western military support Ukraine would hammer the Russians very hard.

@andersostlund@ASLuhn proxy war? so, who's the US proxies in Ukraine? -
@OlgaK2013@ASLuhn The US don't have proxies in Ukraine. The proxy war is Russia fighting Urkaine with Russia's proxy's. -
@andersostlund@ASLuhn I don't think it's the right term. Putin may see it as such, but in reality the West didn't want to get involved.

@andersostlund@ASLuhn Russia is already accusing NATO of being involved. Little to lose by getting involved for real. -
@andersostlund@ASLuhn BTW, calling what Russia is doing "advising" is stretching the term to absurdity.
