To clarify, no children died in traffic anywhere in Norway (pop. 5,3 million) in 2019. That’s a first, at least since WW2. Also, as the graph shows, there was a single lethal crash where a car driver hit a railing at a down town light rail station. That is still one too many.

Many people sharing this claim that we have reached
#visionzero in Oslo. While we are making great progress, there is still a way to go to consistently keep deaths at zero for all road users. Also,#visionzero means 0 serious injuries, where we still have a long way to go.Prikaži ovu nit

Amazing! Is cycling growing in popularity? If Oslo can pull off increased bike mode share in tandem with reduced absolute bike fatalities, that would poke a hole in my theory about bicycling and vision zero being somewhat incompatible. That would be fine by me.
-
Yes. Cycling has increased about 40 % over the last 4-5 years (traffic and modal share). Crashes seems to have gone up at first, then to have fallen for the last 4 years, to a level lower than where we started.

I hear Teslas are common in Norway and thus presumably in Oslo. Are they banned from running autonomously?
-
They are common, and autopilot is allowed.

I’m not quite familiar with LOS. I guess similar thinking may be used for highways, but certainly not for streets with pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

We visited Oslo in 2018. There's a great difference to German cities of same size: Although there's a lot of traffic in Oslo, you feel safe as a pedestrian. Car drivers a part of the system, not the kings. Pedestrians and cyclists are confident, they know and use their rights.

Same experience in Göteborg (Don't know their statistics) and cities in the Netherlands. The main problem in Germany is still granting cars the superior role in traffic design - and in the heads of all involved.
