We cannot terrorize our way to more safety. Making people afraid makes them averse to change. Fear activates the amygdala. There is no room left for higher order reasoning.

Democracy, if there is any, is at its core the total of what the most of us say the most often. And, right now, we keeping saying "guns" and "guns" and "guns." We must say what we are for, even as we fight against so much we rightly oppose.
