Funny you ask! Did an entire messaging project just on this year ago. Negotiate much better than bargain, which sounds like supplication. Freedom super strong frame but I would not use it in this phrase bc it sounds individualistic. Negotiate collectively.
Our best testing message, recalling from memory so not verbatim, was, “In America we value our freedom. And ceos are free to negotiate the salary and bonuses they see fit. Working people deserve the very same: the freedom to negotiate a fair return on our work collectively.” 1

“Real freedom is about more than making a living. It’s about being able to take a loved one to the doctor, go to your kid’s conference and retire in dignity. Joining together in union, we can have the freedom to make a good living and have a good life.”

Note the “join in union” not “a union.” Latter reinforces oppo argument that unions are third party interlopers. A union suggests it’s free standing entity and not the collective will of workers.
