Pro-tip: Calling “student debt” reinforces false idea it’s rightly obligation of the learner. We don’t call mortgages “homeowner debt” nor car loans “driver debt.” Have tested it: education debt much better.

Why not call it a futures loan, or career mortgage.
Because our objective is to make people understand it as something objectionable -- a thing that ought not exist. Futures loan & career mortgage would most likely prime assumption that the thing is beneficial principally or entirely to individual, thus ought to be their problem.

I apologize, I misunderstood you using house and car as comparisons. I thought this conversation was just about the verbiage used to explain the concept. I agree that it should not exist, so to understand, you believe changing how we present this changes the reaction?
