Pro-tip: Calling “student debt” reinforces false idea it’s rightly obligation of the learner. We don’t call mortgages “homeowner debt” nor car loans “driver debt.” Have tested it: education debt much better.

Moreover, “forgiveness” needs to be exorcised from this discourse. It implies person forced into crippling debt because of deliberate choices to make higher ed both critical to many jobs and also available only to wealthiest few has somehow sinned.
