Totally agree that the concept of registration is stupid (many other countries don't require it). However, Calif. does have automatic registration when you get a driver's license or ID at the DMV, which is a good start.
fair. I got spoiled by living abroad with exposure to compulsory voting (Australia), publicly funded elections, voting day off. (And let's not even get started on universal healthcare...)
