Agree! But is there any issue where a referendum makes sense? So many bad policies come out of referenda.
I love you California but having ordinary citizens make decisions about kidney dialysis provision is an abrogation of legislative duty. This should be a matter for careful expertise not referendum.

Yes, it is a performance of “direct democracy.” While behind curtain it’s precisely the same 1% purchasing themselves policy making. But Prop 15 & 16 are at least correctives to previous bad measures.
