Message has to be evaluated with respect to target audience, in this case soft Trump supporters. Rules about beautiful tomorrow apply to stirring *our* base toward good policy. This is an elimination of harm objective for people who are conservative. But... 1

Most persuadable soft Trump are women & younger, this ad like nearly all from GOP against T, aimed at men & older. Next, in our testing ads that look political (this does) less effective that ones that are unique, not immediately obvs political. 2

Further, ads where words contradict images create cognitive strain. People can’t and don’t follow - they stop watching. This ad is what a leftie thinks persuades a rightie, thus the enthusiasm from our side for it.
