Yes... I've been thinking about places in that defunded their local fire department. What happened was they privatized firefighting, as a subscription service. If you chose to subscribe, then when you called the fire department, they would come. If you didn't, they wouldn't.
Ugh. Just imagine who would subscribe to private police. Terrifying.
