Calling it “contact tracing” stokes the fears and objections of intrusion and overreach that engender opposition. It’s “virus tracing” or - better yet - name by what it achieves: “health protection” “safeguard measures” etc. #wordsmeanthings

Contact tracing is the accepted public health term. Explain it, don’t re-name it. Otherwise you’re going down the road that gave us the Patriot Act.

Wait a minute; people are afraid of the term "contact tracing"? I have not heard this until now. How about we give people a second to learn what it is before we veer off into a new name and confuse things further. smdh

It would be better to show people how their personal information and privacy are protected, and give them tools to control that information, instead of giving it a cute name they can mock after data leaks or it is misused.
