If narrating horrors and feeding outrage worked, the left would run the world. It doesn’t.

The Right runs much of the world bc it does well financed in-depth messaging & propaganda research. It must show that narrating imaginary horrors like scary immigrants & feeding outrage works. Bc that's what they're doing, more than any1 on the Left is. And it's working for them

Yes, generating increased fear and resentment makes people more conservative. This is why fear-based messaging works for the right but not for the left.

apparently there are mixed findings, bc NextGen found negative ads did work on Dem voters.https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/08/tom-steyers-nextgen-america-releases-major-new-research-on-motivating-young-voters.html …

Not sure how you draw that conclusion, I've seen full results of this precise study - diff. bet. pos & neg was within MOE, in other words, not conclusive. And "the most persuasive across multiple metrics related to 'power in numbers'."

Haven't seen full results. I like your messaging research & wd love to see Dem party hire U full time to do it. Tho I find it very hard to believe only positive messaging works on Dems. If both types of Dem messages get tested exhaustively, I'd expect some of each type wd work

Very kind! Totally agree it can't be all positive. But (1) ordering effects matter a ton - problem first isn't as effective as shared value THEN problem (2) need far more narration of our "brownie" (what we'll deliver) and far less on what's horrible or our recipe

Thank you for this explanation. Yes, that makes a lot of sense. I was afraid you were suggesting leaving out statement of the problems.

NEVER! And, indeed, I spend so so much time fixing people's speak in passive. E.g. "jobs were lost." Nope. "Jamie Dimon took your house." :) People do things.
