As someone with bipolar disorder who’s truly been “insane” at times and a psychiatrist, I have no problem with using “saner” as a synonym for rational. There is nothing stigmatizing or denigrating about it. Don’t buckle under the social conformity pressure of call out culture.

Appreciate this and think, as person applying tools from cognition and linguistics to political discourse, language is a living thing and meaning is made in context. If “saner” conveys - to some group - condemnation of them - then it’s not doing job I desire.
