So appreciate the hope in this idea. But, in reality, upward mobility in US is actually the LOWEST of the entire industrialized world. The number one correlate of financial success is how much your parents have.

Good to know. My parents were very middle class, we didn’t need for anything but definitely wanted for a lot, yet I’ve surpassed them 10-fold, probably because of their support and insistence on education and hard work. Maybe I’ll move to Venezuela where I can REALLY make it

If you can, move to Europe, Australia, NZ or UK. They all have greater mobility than US. Venezuela isn't a comparable country to US for many reasons, although it is - despite present horrific situation -- an incredibly spot to visit with wonderful people and sites.
