Again—I understand if you feel like every writer but you is successful and is friends with lots of other writers. But here’s a thing about most authors: we’re a super friendly bunch. We want to make new writer friends. I want to make new writer friends all the time.

But I don’t want someone approaching me just because they think they can get something out this. That’s just...rude. Think about it this way—would *you* like it if someone just became your “friend” to use you? I bet you wouldn’t. So don’t be that person either.

I want to surround myself with supportive and amazing *friends* while going through this crazy publishing journey. Most of us want this, right? So instead of trying to get something out people, chat with them. Celebrate their happiness. Help them go through their bad times.
