Carlson Metro may never reopen, per an email today. I said this would happen if we went Orange. I always worried this branch was in danger without the pandemic. I am devastated and heartbroken for staff, members and families in the city who rely on the Y. #ROC

Something I *loved* about that place back when: that despite its clear urban location, it was a haven for ppl from all backgrounds and neighborhoods to gather and shed the racial tensions that keep everyone separated in this city. Carlson was uniquely diverse and safe that way.
I love Carlson so much. I hope we can save this branch.

Let's come up with a plan and meet with them. I get why it is closed during the pandemic. I would love to see if anything can be done when this over.

I would be more than happy to work on a possible solution. This branch is more than just an exercise facility - it’s an anchor on Main Street that keeps people warm, safe, and secure. It’s a place where - to Amy’s point - people from all backgrounds come together.
