What is Rochester-style pizza?

I’d say it’s Sicilian-American. If you think immigration patterns, NYC pizza is prob more traditional thin crust bc large #s of Italian immigrants went there from the peninsula, where Naples is. That’s where pizza was invented. Upstate Italian Americans came mostly from Sicily.

I learned in an Italian American History class that Sicilians, used to poverty, were so delighted by American abundance & treasured food so much that their cuisine transformed from smaller portions to HUGE heaping plates, which may explain doughy crust and lots of cheese.
