One thing I've learned in my 18 years of reporting is that farmers do their research. If you're chatting with them about a subject that concerns them good luck pulling out a fact they don't already know.
My cousin is a dairy farmer by trade, but he is more of an economist in practice. He finds out about ag industry news that doesn’t make it to the paper for like, another year. Kinda makes me ashamed to eat the eggs laid by chickens I never met.
