The American Gas Association, SoCal Gas & other gas utilities have invested heavily in courting chefs and home cooks as a strategy to block gas bans in buildings. In California, it was restaurateurs and chefs that sued to block a statewide ban, for example

Industry trade groups and gas utilities have spent a fortune on test kitchens, they have folks on the board of every culinary school possible, they show up to all the food shows, etc, etc. It's not about the stoves it's about the infrastructure required for the stoves.

If the stoves go, there's no reason for people to fight for gas. And remember: the industry just leveraged Russia's invasion of Ukraine to get more gas infrastructure greenlit; they also just lobbied for gas in the IRA. The last thing they want to see now is a dip in demand.

So when Jim Jordan and whatever other clowns are tweeting their asses off about stoves it's not because they love the meals their wives cook on them, it's to protect the gas industry's grip on our energy system across the board.

I disagree. Compared to electric stoves, gas stoves are much easier to cook with. You turn down the flame it gets cooler immediately. With electric, it stays hot for quite awhile. I'm always burning things on electric stoves. That said, I know I'm using the really old ones.
