7/12 (1) That Mnuchin & Trump haven't bothered to read all of the scientific & econ studies for the past 4 decades, or they've ignored them

8/12 (2) That they suffer from the paradox of the present, which I describe in Signals. They outright reject what they don’t already know.

9/12 Suffering from the paradox, you lack curiosity about the future. That’s dangerous. You become 100% optimistic or pessimistic.

10/12 You forego critical thought. Using the past to predict the future doesn’t always work. You must account for new variables!

The more I read "50-100 more years away," the more irritated I get. Technology doesn't evolve in neat decade increments.

Did Mnuchin skip his quant classes in business school? "50-100 years" is both meaningless and wrong.

We cannot accept a "clarification" statement from Mnuchin or from Trump. What came out of his mouth this morning was raw, unfiltered, honest

If Mnuchin had done any previous reading or learning about #AI, he couldn't have uttered those ridiculous words this morning.

They're skeptical about AGI. The sort of ML that enables autonomy is already here.

I don’t confuse or conflate AI w. ML. They are not the same, and it’s problematic from a cogsci perspective to confuse them.
