Sometimes the UX/design industry is so focused on fighting for a seat at the table that when they get it, they don't know what to do. A seat means little without a vision and plan. Getting the seat isn't the win. The win is in getting to do the hard work that comes next.

Hands down this. No vision or plan to implement the strategy and you fail. Experimenting is also okay, as long as you can adapt and redirect as needed. I push hard for inclusive and accessible practices for equitable experience design but without a path forward there is no gain.

The reward for hard work is even more work.

Maybe the wrong people are getting the seats 🤔

My current take on this is that argued our way there but avoided the hard conversations and change work, and are currently being put back into tactical world as a result. Also the influx of people from bootcamps has devalued UX in favor of UI design, but that's another thread.

Off-center framing of the issue. People/disciplines become good at strategizing when they are involved in vision/plan making. The fight for a seat is also a fight to learn (underprivileged groups want to be in universities, government).
