Fun work on CREST by and Jens Sannerud. Ability to infer pedigree relationships for second degree relatives - aunt/uncles, half-siblings, etc. Also sex-specific maps uncover if half-siblings or grandparent-child pairs are paternal or maternal

Happy to contribute to a study led by on the effect of crossover interference and sex-specific maps on genetic sharing between relatives (i.e., number and lengths of IBD segments). Great work by @MadisonCaballe1 at Amy's lab. 1/4

"... though many sixth cousins share no IBD regions, these numbers suggest that an average person in the UK shares IBD regions with over 19,000 sixth cousins."

Some fun work on the effects of crossover interference and sex specific maps on relatedness levels. Both have an impact, and modeling both lead to better fits to IBD sharing quantities from real relatives.

Excited to announce DRUID, 's method for inferring relatedness between samples by analyzing the IBD profile of ungenotyped ancestors. Considerably improved performance compared to both traditional methods & another multi-way relatedness method
