It's been a rough couple of weeks in gender dysphoria land. But I'm finding my footing.

I made $26.73 this year from accidentally (and once intentionally) posting blog posts behind Medium's pay wall. Now I'm giving $40 of it to file my 1099-MISC through TurboTax :P

Excited to teach accessibility today to our students! The chapter in my UIST book gets better every year because of the great feedback from students, and the outstanding research and beyond:

One thing I did while in the closet was build an iron wall between my personal/professional web browsing so that the personal wouldn’t leak into the professional. It was so. much. work. It’s liberating to let it melt together into a big surveillance capitalism mess.

What a fun day of collaborative research! Writing, feedback, envisioning, fundraising, graduating, and much, much more. I may be burnt out this week, but my students and collaborators are not, and they’re doing *great*!

Our capacity for discovery depends on many inherently personal things. I reflect on some of these things, and how they’re missing from my life right now, making research harder than usual.

I'm grateful to be paid well for my work. But sometimes I feel like I don't have enough. Then I remember: in the past 12 years, I've paid off $60K in student loans, spent $80K on nursing degrees for 2 partners, saved $100K in college savings, and bought a house in Seattle 😬
