Amnesty International Australia 🕯’s Tweets

It's time Australia, and the international community, holds the Chinese government accountable for their crimes against humanity. The government must call for the release of Australian Uyghur's families, so they can be reunited.

Good response but, it's not enough. The Aus Uyghur community need more than just their thoughts. They've been telling us this for several years now. What we need is action & accountability. What we need is 4 our families to be whole again. Call for the release of our loved ones! twitter.com/stephendziedzi…

As . says, this report should spur the Australian government to take action so that Uyghurs in Australia can be reunited with their families, and so all Uyghurs can be free from the horrific abuses happening in #Xinjiang.

Now that the report is here, the Australian government, @dfat, should actively pursue justice not just for the direct family members of Uyghur Australians like myself, @Mehray_T, @AlmasNizamidin, @Marhaba0125, @RayhangulA, but also all the Uyghurs in general.

Well done PEN and the students who had this ridiculous ban overturned. Anh Do's books are absolutely beautiful and a must read

Today is Bachelet's last day as UN Human Rights Commissioner. Her failure to release her report on human rights abuses in #Xinjiang is a historic betrayal of both her office and Uyghurs, including ., who has been separated from his family since 2017.

Mohammed is accused of misappropriating Australian aid (DFAT's audit found no wrongdoing). His case is one of many examples of how the Israeli authorities perpetrate the system of apartheid, using the justice system to dominate and discriminate against Palestinians.

Mohammed will now be separated from his family for 6 more years, following a trial was neither fair nor transparent. No-one should be separated from their children because of a trial held behind closed doors, and a confession obtained under duress. @amnestyOz twitter.com/joedyke/status…

"I'm the only lucky one. Maybe there are a few lucky ones in Australia. But there's another thousand people missing their loved ones. Like my friend Almas, his wife is still in the prison for five-and-a-half years now," Sadam says.💔
