"Bridge over Troubled Water was released on January 26, 1970" wow ancient history SIGGRAPH deadline-like.

Once again I deduce that people use conflict flagging as means to engineer reviewers which is a big no.

Why am I always twitching to put an extra "p" in "developable".

Here's some important research I had to do while on holiday break. Opinions welcome.

Please stop requesting full texts in ResearchGate; everything is on my website a Google away.

And anyhow SIGGRAPH Deadline is the true new year's eve! the academic year is always "before" and "after".

My first SIGGRAPH deadline was 10 years ago.

It is very annoying that in QR decomposition it is Q that gets to be the orthogonal matrix.

This condition is basically a zero sum in a rhs of a system with a 1D null space.

(For directional-field savvy people: the curvature of boundary loops should be measured by angle defects, not holonomy, since you can miss 2*pi rounds, especially in flat boundaries. measuring with angle defects gives the exact discrete condition for index prescription).

A student points out an issue with wrong boundary-loop indices in Directional. After some investigation I figure out what the problem is, and then I realize I already opened an issue for myself some time ago and haven't fix it yet... 🧐🤓

This sounds to me like a Monte-Carlo/MCMC/rendering problem but I don't have a name for it. The polygon is given in closed form.

Is there any out-of-the-box algorithm to sample a closed polygon (= 2D indicator function) "well-enough"? create N samples that for *some reasonable measure* convery the complexity (so let's say if you overfit a network on these samples you have a good chance to reproduce).

Apparently papers, courses, and other content are freely available online (and not just as preprints): — but DL makes it look like a paywall. Weird.

(why CRC? does anybody young still remember what CRC is? OK boomer.)

The CRC version is on ArXiv: Subdivision Directional Fields will be presented at SIGGRAPH 2020!

In mathematics, the purpose of the prefix co- is to turn something you don't really understand into something you really don't understand.
