    Dark Patterns are literally everywhere. They trick us into doing things online we wouldn't do otherwise - like giving up personal information, attention, and money. I list more examples here:

    When you post photos of yourself or friends and family online, you may not imagine they could be used to develop facial-recognition systems that can identify individuals offline. A new site hopes to raise awareness of this issue.

    I don’t begrudge anyone for doing their utmost to get the limited quantities of this vaccine but when the primary way of accessing the vaccine is an app in English that requires several steps on a smartphone, a lot of our most vulnerable patients are going to be left behind. 3/

    Breaking up Facebook and Google is necessary but that alone is a conservative remedy that preserves their socially destructive methods of moneymaking. Abolishing their basic business model (targeted advertising built on mass surveillance) should be the end goal.
