To show you just how inaccurate this story is, here's an unedited email I sent to a survivor quoted in this story in June (one of several I sent her). We shared the email with @hknightsf but she failed to mention it in her piece. Compassion wasn’t the story she wanted to tell.pic.twitter.com/bhXleidhzC

I also invited this survivor to help us ensure that no survivors undergo similar experiences. She declined, saying she didn’t want to help us for free. So we offered incentives for our survey—a recognition that folks who take time to fill out surveys might want a thank you.

The truth is @hknightsf has previously written how prior administrations had filings rates of 40% in sexual assault cases—which they reported as twice the national average. Yet somehow the fact that that filings went up by 17% under me is treated by @hknightsf as a failing.

Strange that @hknightsf implied that our pilot to expand testing for sexual assault survivors doesn’t matter because she didn’t like the announcement timing. It was an effort involving multiple agencies, planned for weeks. Sorry, @hknightsf that it posed a hiccup for you.

Our survey aimed to give survivors an opportunity to be heard by us—including those who don’t have a media platform. But the perspectives of two survivors whose crimes happened years before I took office don’t represent all survivors.

It’s fine to disagree with our policies or practices. But, @hknightsf, at least tell the whole story and stop misleading SF residents about our priorities or our work. And no amount of these attacks will stop me from working to make the legal system better serve victims.

      Replying to @amhennessey @chesaboudin @hknightsf

On the contrary, @amhennessey, Heather's piece was factual and entirely about racist budgeting. In fact, it closed this this quote from @MattHaneySF “It’s a huge disparity in our district, and the choice patterns are often by race..." @hknightsf's reporting is top notch.

Here's an entire article from 2019 that lays out the whole situation at Starr King. Starr King and Aptos are joined at the hip.https://sfbayview.com/2019/09/starr-king-elementary-segregation-and-wealth-the-politics-of-liberal-san-franciscos-separate-but-equal/ …

But you wrote that SFBayView byline. We can’t control what the media writes. I commend @hknightsf for her credible reporting. If her piece didn’t go in a direction that you wanted it to go, you are welcome to pitch her. What’s important is she was factual.

Ignoring data relevant to a story is irresponsible. @hknightsf's story questions why the school has no $ for mental health services and provides little info. @sfbayview spells out that exact issue. A few of us wrote to @hknightsf over a year ago, she had the data and ignored it
