I see so much negativity about freelancing + I just want to weigh in for anyone considering it that I personally find it extremely enjoyable + v lucrative + have substantially better mental health than when staff. every experience is diff, but would hate for people to be put off!

also it took me a LONG time to realise that people who say "you can't make a good wage freelancing!" are people who consider "a good wage" to be one vastly higher than I do, bc they were private schooled and could've been doctors/lawyers

Couldn't agree more! 🙌🏾 🙌🏾 Freelancing has been recently conflated with a lot of negativity but I've always loved it - would hate for others to be put off too

same! I mean of course there are negative aspects but the same goes for working for someone else. there are also lots of ways to be freelance! you don't have to work from home. I think people forget that.

I love going to the gym at 11am the most. I do think you have to be a "certain kind of person" to thrive in freelancing (not a negative thing) so that I am not and yet have managed a decade doing it is a constant source of surprise.

Ha! Last year when I was doubting being freelance (I'm 4 years in) "going to the gym at 11am" was right at the top of my pros list.

I love to work as a freelancer - gives me flexibility and allows me to take a variety of jobs, but I understand it’s not for everyone. I’ve just been ill and cancelled two weeks of shifts - painful since you don’t get paid! But generally happy with how I manage my time.

Totally agree. Currently still in PJs and surrounded by pets. Have already written 500 words, meaning I can take a chunk of the afternoon off.

I'm sitting in gym gear as work had to be done first, might not make the gym but I'm downing tools at 1pm to head to the coast. I was working late last night but wouldn't have it any other way.
